The Delegation of UK Durham University Visits SEU

On January 15, a delegation from Durham University, led by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Clive Roberts, visited SEU. Qiu Haibo, Vice President of SEU, met with the delegation.

Prof. Qiu Haibo extended his warm welcome to Prof. Clive Roberts and his delegation. At the meeting, Qiu provided an overview of the university’s latest developments in disciplinary construction, talent cultivation, and international cooperation. He also expressed his hope that both universities would explore the possibility of collaborative education in fields such as mechanical engineering, information technology, and energy. Focusing on their respective strengths in disciplines like Computer Science, Electronic Information, Biomedical Engineering, New Energy, and Carbon Neutrality, he proposed to launch diverse collaborative programs, including joint training, summer schools, and undergraduate exchange visits. These initiatives aim to create more high-quality learning and exchange opportunities for outstanding students from both institutions. Additionally, he suggested fostering high-level academic exchanges between scholars from both universities by concentrating on emerging interdisciplinary fields such as artificial intelligence, carbon neutrality, and medicine-engineering interdisciplinary studies.


Prof. Clive Roberts expressed strongsupport forProf. Qiu Haibo’s suggestions. He stated that Durham University would be eager to work closely with SEU, focusing on disciplines like mechanical engineering, information technology, energy, sustainable development, and artificial intelligence. He proposed to engage in practical cooperation in areas such as talent cultivation and scientific research, jointly explore the possibility of collaborative education, and promote deeper and more substantive collaboration between the two universities.

The meeting was attended by relevant representatives from the School of Mechanical Engineering, the School of Information Science and Engineering, and the Office of International Cooperation, SEU.
